Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have killed five terrorists and rescued three abducted civilians during a coordinated military operation in Kondunga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The operation was conducted in the early hours of Sunday, following intelligence on terrorist movement in the area.
The terrorists were intercepted at a known crossing point along the Sojiri axis during a joint operation involving troops and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force.
Sani Uba, media information officer of Joint Task Force northeast Operation HADIN KAI, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Sunday.
He said the troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle that led to the neutralization of five insurgents without any casualty on the side of the security forces.
Uba said three civilians who had been abducted by the terrorists were rescued alive during the operation.
He added that troops also recovered AK-47 rifles from the scene.
According to him, the success of the operation demonstrates the effectiveness of joint military and civilian collaboration in counterterrorism efforts.
He said Operation HADIN KAI remains committed to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups and restoring lasting peace across the Northeast.
