As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security across educational institutions in Kaduna State, and in line with the Safe School Initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, PhD, the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, psc, mni, has commenced a strategic tour of inspection of schools and institutions across the state, with particular focus on rural and boarding schools.

During the exercise, the Commissioner of Police visited the newly established Federal University of Applied Science, Kachia, in the southern part of Kaduna State, where he met with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor William Qurix, to assess the security situation of the institution.

Speaking during the visit, CP Rabiu Muhammad said, “The safety of students, staff, and educational infrastructure remains a top priority of the Nigeria Police Force. This inspection is part of proactive measures to prevent security threats and ensure a safe learning environment across Kaduna State.”

He added that the initiative aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, noting that “the Safe School Initiative is a continuous exercise, and the Command will not relent until all schools within the state are adequately secured.”

Following discussions on key security concerns, the Commissioner of Police immediately deployed additional police personnel to reinforce security within and around the university premises.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor William Qurix, commended the Police Command, stating, “We sincerely appreciate the swift and proactive response of the Kaduna State Police Command. The deployment of additional personnel has greatly boosted the confidence of our students and staff.”

The Commissioner of Police also engaged relevant stakeholders within the area and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustained collaboration, stressing that “security is a collective responsibility, and we will continue to work closely with school authorities and host communities to protect our institutions.”
