One person has died after a fight broke out between rival groups of suspected thugs in Kano.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared the update on X on Tuesday, quoting security sources.
The report said the violence started around 10:30 p.m. in the Ja’en Unguwar Lalle area after a peace meeting between the groups failed.
Makama said a resident raised an alarm, which led to a quick response from police officers. The patrol team moved to the area, confronted the suspects, and brought the situation under control.
Police arrested two suspected leaders of the groups. They were identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, 22, from Sabuwar Madina, and Abubakar Bello, also known as Babuji, 18, from Unguwar Lalle.
Three people were seriously injured during the clash and taken to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for treatment. One of them, Aliyu Abdullahi, 22, who had a serious neck injury, later died, while the others are still receiving care.
Police later carried out raids on suspected hideouts and arrested eight more suspects.
Security sources said officers recovered weapons, including a cutlass, a sword, and charms.
Authorities added that investigations are still ongoing, and more updates will be shared.
