The Presidency has urged broader deployment of electric vehicles across Nigeria following the introduction of 1,000 electric vehicles.

The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Transportation and Mobility, Prince Adetokunbo Ademola Ade-John, made the appeal on Thursday during the official launch of the ProTaxi e-hailing platform in Abuja.

In a statement issued on Friday, Ade-John praised the Chief Executive Officer of PromiseLand Innovation, Emmanuel Oloche, describing the project as a practical example of the Federal Government’s efforts to modernise transportation and mobility.

“I commend the CEO of PromiseLand Innovation for taking this bold step in advancing transportation and mobility in Nigeria,” Ade-John said.

He said the Federal Government was already working on the deployment of electric buses and CNG-powered vehicles, adding that private sector initiatives could support efforts to reform the country’s transportation system.

“We encourage PromiseLand Innovation to sustain this initiative and expand it to other parts of the country,” he said.

Ade-John further said he would take the initiative to relevant Federal Government officials and agencies for consideration.

He urged Nigerians to support locally developed innovations, noting that Oloche had invested his personal resources in the project.

“If a single man can do this with his personal resources, we don’t need investors from outside. You are a son of the soil,” he said.

Speaking at the event, Oloche said the initiative was developed as part of PromiseLand Innovation’s wider goal of deploying technology to create opportunities and support movement from poverty to prosperity.

He said the platform would provide economic opportunities for drivers and their families while offering Nigerians a more affordable transportation option through electric mobility.

“We believe that when we create opportunities for thousands of drivers, we are not watching families, but we are reshaping communities,” Oloche said.

Oloche said the company’s plans went beyond the Nigerian market, with an ambition to establish an African technology company capable of competing internationally.

“Our mission is to build an African technology company that will transform everyday living and eventually compete with the best in the world,” he said.
