Over 500 farmers in Mallam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area, have embraced irrigation farming after their repatriation to the town.
The initiative has become a key source of livelihood for returnees working to rebuild their lives.
The Borno State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, on Monday visited several farms to interact with the farmers and encourage their efforts.
During the visit, Prof. Tar praised the farmers for their resilience and commitment to food production in the area.
He was joined by the Commanding Officer of the 68 Battalion, Mallam Fatori, Lieutenant Colonel Emmanuel Ochogbo, and the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Zanna Mahdi.
The commissioner assured the farmers of continued government support to improve agricultural activities and maintain peace in the community.
