The Yobe State Government has signed a Service Level Agreement with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria for the continued operation and management of the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport in Damaturu.
According to a statement by Dr. Mustapha Abba Geidam, permanent secretary, Ministry of Transport and Energy said, “the agreement was signed on Tuesday.”
“The agreement covers the operation, maintenance, and provision of aviation safety and security services at the airport,” the statement added.
The commissioner for transport and energy, Hon. Muhammad Muhammad Bara, signed on behalf of the Yobe State Government.
He was joined by the permanent secretary, Dr. Mustapha Abba Geidam, while FAAN was represented by its managing director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku.
“The partnership highlights Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to sustaining the airport’s operations and ensuring compliance with national aviation standards,” the ministry stated.
“It also reinforces the state’s plan to position the facility as a logistics hub for agricultural export, trade, and regional connectivity in the Northeast.”
The Ministry of Transport and Energy reaffirmed its commitment to developing efficient and secure air transport infrastructure in collaboration with federal aviation authorities and key stakeholders.
