Operatives of the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD–CBRN Base 13, Maiduguri) have detonated two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the Ngwaom–Mafa road during a joint security visit led by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.

ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the command spokesperson, confirmed the incident during an assessment visit to Mafa and Dikwa local government areas of Borno State.

He said the visit followed a foiled attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on the night of October 22 and 23.

According to him, the EOD team located the buried explosives and conducted a controlled detonation to prevent harm to security personnel and travelers.

ASP Daso stated that Governor Zulum was accompanied by CP Naziru Abdulmajid, the Borno State commissioner of police, senior military officers, and heads of other security agencies.

He said the commissioner commended the governor for personally joining the assessment and praised the security personnel for their efforts in ensuring public safety.

“The commissioner commended the governor for joining the assessment visit and appreciated the security personnel for their continued dedication to protecting lives and property,” ASP Daso said.

He added that the police command would continue to collaborate with other security formations to strengthen operations and sustain peace in the state.

ASP Daso also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies.

He provided emergency contact numbers 0806 807 5581 and 0802 347 3293 for prompt response.
