The Yobe State Police Command has disbursed ₦42,137,238.66 to 35 families of deceased police officers who lost their lives while in active service.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim said, the payment is under the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Scheme and Group Life Insurance initiative introduced by IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun to support the welfare of serving officers and families of fallen heroes.
During the presentation ceremony, CP Emmanuel Ado expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for his continued commitment to the welfare of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.
He described the gesture as “a remarkable demonstration of compassion and leadership that will not only provide relief to the bereaved families but also serve as a moral booster to serving personnel.”
The commissioner prayed for the repose of the departed officers and urged their families to bear the loss with courage and faith.
He also advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the funds, particularly in their children’s education and general upkeep, while warning them against deceitful individuals who might seek to exploit them.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the commissioner, describing the support as “a reflection of genuine care and commitment to the welfare of police families.”
They also prayed for continued strength, wisdom, and divine protection for the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
