A former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, an All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant in Oyo State, has pledged to implement a “Rebirth Agenda” if elected during the 2027 general election.
Adelabu made this known on Tuesday in Ibadan while formally declaring his intention to contest the governorship seat in the state, promising to reposition the state’s economy and facilitate massive employment opportunities.
The former Minister of Power stated that the declaration signified the beginning of a movement aimed at restoring, rebuilding, repositioning, and reclaiming Oyo State for genuine development, prosperity, and people-oriented governance.
He explained that his development framework, titled “Oyo Rebirth Agenda,” would prioritise efficient local government administration and grassroots development, improved security architecture and public safety, as well as an agricultural revolution.
Adelabu also said that, if elected, his administration would focus on comprehensive social welfare, reforms in education, transformation of the health sector, urban renewal, civil service reforms, and women empowerment, among others.
“I am contesting because governance must go beyond rhetoric; it must produce measurable development.
“I am contesting because I believe that for a better Oyo State, capacity matters, competence matters, character matters, compassion matters, and courage matters.
“I stand before you today with humility and a profound sense of duty to formally declare my intention to contest for the office of the governor of Oyo State in the 2027 general elections under the banner of the APC,” he said.
Adelabu appealed for sustained unity within the APC in Oyo State, stressing that unity remained essential for the party’s success in the forthcoming elections.
“This project is bigger than one man. It is a collective mission. We must unite, we must close ranks.
“We must prioritise party supremacy, discipline, and shared victory over individual ambition.
“There is no progress without unity. There is no victory without solidarity. I call on all APC leaders, aspirants, stakeholders, and members: let us work together. Let us build together, let us win together,” he said.
The former minister and APC governorship hopeful stated that he was presenting himself not as a flawless individual, but as a prepared leader.
“Not merely as a politician, but as a servant. Not merely as an aspirant, but as a committed progressive determined to deliver results,” he said.
According to media reports, the declaration ceremony featured goodwill messages from different support groups and party leaders across various levels of government, alongside the unveiling of the development plan tagged “Oyo Rebirth Agenda”.
