Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have rescued 12 kidnap victims from Boko Haram captivity in the Mandara Mountains of Borno State.

The victims, seven women and five children, were abducted on 14 November along the Gwoza–Limankara road.

According to the military on Tuesday, said they regained freedom on Sunday during a clearance mission under Operation Sanity IV and Diligent Search.

The 26 Task Force Brigade, supported by Hybrid Forces, Hunters, and local vigilantes, launched a pre-dawn assault through the mountain foothills toward Uvaha.

The military advance forced the terrorists to abandon the captives and withdraw, while the victims ran into nearby bushes; troops found them around 8:45 a.m.

Those rescued include Fadi Musa, Jummai Manga, Hamsatu Musa, Jummai Ali, Inna Amadu, Falmata Musa, Hadiza Hamman, and five children.

The victims were moved to the brigade’s field ambulance for medical treatment and later handed over to the representative of the Chairman of Gwoza Local Government Area for reunification with their families.

The military high command commended the conduct of the troops and the support of security partners and local informants.

Troops continue operations across southern Borno to track ISWAP elements and prevent further incidents.
