President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved major appointments in two newly established federal universities of education.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, confirmed the new leadership in a statement on Wednesday.
He announced the appointment of Engineer Abdurrazaq Abubakar Nakore as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano.
Nakore to head Kano education university council
Nakore, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, previously served as the Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Rural Electricity Board.
The President also named Prof. Abdullahi Tukur Kodage as the Vice Chancellor of the Kano-based university.
Their appointments, according to the statement, signal a push to strengthen leadership at the institution.
Bunkure takes charge in Zaria
In addition, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure was appointed as Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Kaduna State.
Bunkure, an expert in science education, is currently the Vice Chancellor of Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education in Kano.
According to the law establishing the universities, the Pro-Chancellor will serve a four-year term, while the Vice Chancellors will serve five-year tenures.
