Many residents in Jos, Plateau State capital, have taken to the streets to protest the recent surge in violent attacks and killings by suspected Fulani militants.

Led by Christian leaders, including Rev. Polycarp Lubo, Plateau chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the demonstrations caused significant traffic disruptions.

The protest follows a recent surge in violent attacks on communities in Plateau with more than 100 people reportedly killed in Bokkos and Bassa Local Government Areas over the past two weeks.

As the protesters marched toward the Rayfield Government House, they demanded urgent security intervention to halt the bloodshed.

“We are not happy over the continuous attacks and killings by gunmen in our communities. That’s why we have come out again to protest these happenings,” said Gyang Dalyop, one of the protesters.

Hannatu Philip added, “The government should intervene before the situation spirals out of control”.
