• The Police Service Commission has extended the deadline for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 police constables by two weeks.

According to a statement signed on Wednesday by Torty Njoku Kalu, head of protocol and public affairs, Police Service Commission, Abuja, said the application portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, will now close on February 8, 2026.

The extension followed the receipt of more than 400,000 applications from across the country.

A review of the submissions revealed significant disparities in state participation.

States such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applicants.

However, Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra states recorded notably low application figures.

The commission said the extension is aimed at ensuring fair and equitable representation in the recruitment process.

Eligible Nigerians, particularly applicants from states with low participation, were encouraged to apply through the official recruitment portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

The Police Service Commission also urged state governments, local government councils, sociocultural organizations, religious bodies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to mobilize qualified youths within their communities.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and merit-based recruitment exercise.
