A late-night building collapse in Kabak village, Kirikasamma Local Government Area of Jigawa State, has claimed one life and left seven others injured.

The council’s Information Officer, Musa Muhammad, confirmed the incident in a statement released in Dutse on Sunday.

According to Muhammad, the collapse was triggered by a heavy downpour that hit Kirikasamma and its surrounding communities.

“I gathered that seven persons got serious injuries while one person died at Kabak village in Kirikasamma Local Government Area,” Muhammad said.

He explained that the incident happened at midnight on Friday.

Out of the seven injured, five were hospitalized, while two others received treatment and were later discharged.

The tragedy has raised fresh concerns about the impact of flooding and heavy rains on rural housing structures in Jigawa State.

Council chairman visits victims

The council’s Chairman, Muhammad Maji, quickly visited the scene of the disaster to sympathize with the victims and their families.

According to the information officer, the chairman provided N500,000 to cover medical expenses for the injured and an additional N100,000 as emergency support for the bereaved family.

Authorities say they will continue monitoring the situation as heavy rains persist in the state.
