Respected business mogul and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alasan Dantata, was laid to rest on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the revered Baqiyya Cemetery in Madina, Saudi Arabia, in an atmosphere marked by prayers, solemnity, and heartfelt tributes from dignitaries and loved ones.

The announcement was made in a statement by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, spokesperson to the Kano State Governor.

A powerful Nigerian delegation, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, was present at the burial.

He was accompanied by Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II of Kano, and the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, among others.

The Federal Government was also represented by the Minister of Defence, H.E. Badaru Abubakar, alongside the Ministers of Justice and Information.

Other top personalities who travelled to Madina included former Governors Ahmad Muazu (Bauchi), Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu, and Saminu Turaki (Jigawa), ex-APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and the former Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.

Also present were Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, the Minister of State for Housing, and members of the Nigerian community in Saudi Arabia.

In a gesture of honour, Saudi authorities granted Governors Yusuf and Namadi, along with Emir Sanusi, the rare privilege to view Dantata’s body before the funeral prayer and personally offer special prayers—a moment described as deeply moving by observers.

During the ceremony, Governor Yusuf prayed for the soul of the late icon and comforted the bereaved family.

“His legacy of service, faith, and generosity will forever live in our hearts,” Yusuf said.

Governor Namadi also extended condolences on behalf of Jigawa State, saying:

“On behalf of the government and good people of Jigawa State, I extend our sincere condolences to the family of late Aminu Dantata and the Kano State Government. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus.”

Leading the prayers, Emir Sanusi II praised Dantata as “a beacon of generosity, faith, and vision,” adding that his contributions shaped modern business and philanthropy in Nigeria.

As the late patriarch was lowered into the sacred soil of Baqiyya—resting place of saints and scholars—chants of prayers rose from hundreds of mourners who had gathered from near and far to bid farewell to one of Nigeria’s most revered sons.
