Business magnate and philanthropist, Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi, has pledged to attract fresh private investments into Borno State.
He made the promise on Wednesday during a visit to his residence in Maiduguri by Babagana Umara Zulum, governor, who led a delegation to appreciate Indimi’s recent ₦2 billion donation to the University of Maiduguri.
The donation, announced over the weekend, has been described as one of the largest individual interventions in the institution’s history.
Indimi told the governor that he has been in discussions with local and international investors who have shown interest in exploring opportunities in Borno.
He said the state is gradually emerging as an attractive environment for business, noting that recent visitors from Switzerland expressed satisfaction with the level of development in Maiduguri.
“Your Excellency, I am touched by this honor from Borno and I did everything because I love my state,” Indimi said.
He added that several investors are ready to partner with the state and that their presence will soon be visible at the Government House.
Indimi also announced future interventions in education and healthcare, including support for Kashim Ibrahim University and the new teaching hospital under construction.
In his remarks, Zulum commended Indimi for his consistent support to education in Borno and across Nigeria.
The delegation included Mutawali Shettima Bukar, Waziri of Borno; Zanna Laisu Ibrahim, chief imam of Borno; Bulama Mali Gubio, secretary Borno Elders Forum; Professor Laminu Mele, vice chancellor University of Maiduguri, and other principal officers of the university, among others.
