The Borno State Police Command has confirmed two separate cases of gruesome murder in Shuwari II and Polo areas of Maiduguri, raising security concerns among residents.

In a statement issued on Thursday by ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, police public relations officer of the command, the first incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, December 3, when one Amos Ibrahim reported that his friend’s wife, identified as Rifkatu Yohanna, was found with deep cuts inside her room at Shuwari II.

She was rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, where she was confirmed dead and later deposited at the morgue for autopsy.

Police said one suspect, Salisu Mohammed Nura, also known as Aliyas Amir, has been arrested in connection with the murder, while investigation continues.

In a separate development on the same day at about 12:55pm, a lifeless body of an unidentified male was discovered inside a green Honda Civic with registration number GUB 142GB at Modari Polo area.

The Divisional Police Officer of GRA Division led a team to the scene, secured the location, and recovered the corpse which was taken to the State Specialist Hospital morgue.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the body and vehicle may have been at the location for over 24 hours, while an ATM card and vehicle documents belonging to Muhammed Ibrahim Saje were recovered and later confirmed to be that of the victim.

Commissioner of police Naziru Abdulmajid psc condemned both killings and directed that the cases be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.

He further ordered increased patrols across Maiduguri to prevent criminal activities and assured that perpetrators will be tracked and brought to justice.

The command said further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
