The Federal Government, through the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in collaboration with Save the Children International, has trained 100 security desk officers in Jigawa State on Safe School Response Coordination.

Speaking in Dutse, AC Josiah A. Shuaibu, Head of Training at the National Safe School Response Coordination Centre (NSSRCC) under the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), explained that the programme is designed to build participants’ capacity to secure learning spaces.

“This training is designed to enhance our officers’ skills, technology use, and collaborative efforts to address evolving risks,” Shuaibu said.

According to him, “It aligns with the Federal Government’s Safe Schools Declaration and NSCDC’s broader efforts to protect pupils, teachers, and school infrastructure.”

The programme, organised in partnership with Save the Children International, development agencies, and other security outfits, aims to promote consistent implementation of Safe Schools protocols nationwide.

Advocacy and Campaign Coordinator for Save the Children International (SCI) in Jigawa, Dr. Joseph Apeh, commended both federal and state governments for putting children’s welfare at the forefront.
