The Borno State Police Command has announced heightened security measures and temporary road diversions in Maiduguri ahead of the scheduled visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the state.
Naziru Abdulmajid, the commissioner of police, said the command has activated a comprehensive security plan involving regular police personnel, tactical units, and surveillance teams.
He said Explosive Ordnance Disposal units and crowd control officers have also been deployed to ensure public safety during the presidential visit.
ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the police public relations officer, said some roads within Maiduguri will experience temporary restrictions to allow the movement of official convoys.
He said affected routes include the parallel road linking Airport Road to Shehuri Road.
The police advised residents and motorists to cooperate with security personnel and comply with lawful instructions during the period.
The command assured residents of the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the visit.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or security concerns to the nearest police station or through the emergency lines 08068075581 and 08023473293.
