The Adamawa State Government has suspended all programmes scheduled for the crossover night billed for December 31, 2025, to welcome the new year on January 1, 2026, at the Unity Fly-Over in Jimeta, Yola.
In a statement, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou, the chief press secretary to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, explained that the decision was based on credible intelligence reports bordering on security concerns.
Wonosikou stated that the protection and safety of residents remain the highest priority of the state government.
He noted that the government would keep collaborating with security agencies to guarantee peace and stability across the state.
“We urge all citizens, especially residents of Yola North and South LGAs, to remain vigilant and steer clear of crowded areas to avoid any potential risks and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Further updates will be provided as necessary,” the statement added.
