Governor of Yobe State

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has authorized the immediate disbursement of N5.8 billion for the settlement of outstanding gratuities owed to retired public officers in the state.

The move represents a significant stride in the administration’s effort to enhance the welfare of former civil servants who dedicated years of service to the state.

In a statement released by the Commissioner for Finance, Mohammed Abatcha Geidam, the governor further instructed that gratuity payments be incorporated into the monthly pension schedule for regular disbursement.

“This directive will ensure that cleared gratuity payments are integrated into the state’s monthly financial schedule, preventing future backlogs,” Geidam said.

He described the governor’s decision as a testament to Governor Buni’s compassionate governance and respect for the contributions of retired workers in Yobe.

“By clearing this backlog and institutionalizing a monthly payment system, the governor has provided financial relief and restored dignity to our senior citizens,” the Commissioner added.

The statement also noted that the Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Office of the Head of Service, is ensuring transparency and prompt disbursement of the approved funds.

Geidam emphasized that the initiative aligns with the governor’s broader fiscal and social policy, aimed at upholding financial discipline while prioritizing the wellbeing of Yobe citizens, especially retirees who have played vital roles in the state’s development.
