The Borno State Deputy Governor, Dr. Umar Kadafur, who also heads the Borno State Security Planning and Coordinating Group (SPCG) under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Regional Stabilization Fund (RSF), on Tuesday welcomed members of the Adamawa State SPCG on a technical exchange visit.
The delegation was led by Brigadier General Abubakar Sadiq Marmoni (Rtd), the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor of Adamawa State.
The team’s visit focused on studying Borno’s security planning model, strategies, and programs developed through the UNDP/RSF initiative.
Brig. Gen. Marmoni said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration and learning from Borno’s success in implementing stabilization and recovery efforts in insurgency-affected communities.
In his response, Dr. Kadafur emphasized the deep cultural and historical bonds between Borno and Adamawa.
He noted that Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri maintain a close working relationship founded on mutual interests in regional peace and development.
Dr. Kadafur explained that Borno’s achievements under the SPCG framework provide key insights for other states partnering with the UNDP on stabilization and recovery projects.
“As Chairman of the SPCG in Borno, I can attest to the foresight of our Governor, which aligns perfectly with the UNDP’s developmental goals and the state’s recovery process,” Kadafur said.
He praised the UNDP for its sustained collaboration in implementing community recovery and stabilization programs across conflict-affected areas in the state.
