Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has formally announced his plan to contest the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, positioning himself to challenge the incumbent senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Bello made the declaration during a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, where he engaged traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders from across the senatorial district.

Addressing the gathering, the former governor officially accepted calls urging him to contest the election and expressed his preparedness to represent the district at the National Assembly.

“I accept to run for the Senate in 2027,” Bello affirmed.

The event reportedly attracted the presence of Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, alongside several political leaders and community figures.

Bello previously served as governor of Kogi State from 2016 to 2024.

At present, the Kogi Central Senatorial District is represented by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who secured the seat in the 2023 elections.
