The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appealed to Governor Dauda Lawal to recall over 3,000 civil servants recently dismissed from the state’s workforce.
The appeal was contained in a statement released on Monday in Gusau by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris.
According to the statement, the disengaged workers include teachers, healthcare personnel, and other civil servants drawn from the 14 local government areas of the state.
Idris condemned the mass dismissal as “arbitrary,” alleging that the affected employees had already been cleared in the government’s earlier verification exercise before being asked to vacate their positions.
He noted that many of those dismissed had served between 10 and 20 years and were breadwinners for large families relying on them for survival.
The APC spokesman urged the state administration to review its stance, cautioning that the large-scale disengagement could deepen economic hardship and aggravate insecurity in the state.
