Yusuf Buhari, son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has publicly expressed the Buhari family’s gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Assembly leaders, the Armed Forces, and millions of Nigerians for their solidarity following the death of the elder statesman.
Yusuf spoke on behalf of the family during a special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) held in honour of the late president in Abuja.

In an emotional message, Yusuf described the nationwide outpouring of grief and support as overwhelming and deeply appreciated by the family.
“We are humbled and deeply grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the honour done to our father and for standing with our family in this time of grief,” Yusuf said.
He extended thanks to Vice President Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and the general public, describing their condolence messages, tributes, and visits as powerful reminders of the respect his father enjoyed nationwide.

Reflecting on his father’s life and legacy, Yusuf Buhari noted:
“Our father lived for Nigeria and died a fulfilled man. Your support has given us strength and comfort in this moment of loss.”
The session featured prayers and moving tributes from cabinet members and dignitaries, as the country continues to mourn the passing of a former Head of State and two-term civilian President, who died last week at the age of 82.
