Gunmen have reportedly killed a woman in Dazhi village. According to reports, the community shares boundaries with Gadabuke in Kuje Area Council of the FCT and Zangabutu in Toto LGA of Nasarawa State.

A resident of Dazhi village, Danlami Yakubu, said the tragedy happened on Tuesday when the woman was ambushed by attackers while heading to the Gadabuke market.

He explained that the assailants allegedly stabbed the woman in the neck before escaping with her mobile phone.

According to him, villagers who later stumbled on her body alerted the police in Gadabuke.

“So, the police, upon receiving the information, quickly mobilized to the scene where the corpse of the woman was found lying inside the bush by the roadside,” he said.

The chairman of Toto LGA, Alhaji Ahmed Baba Yahaya, confirmed the killing via a telephone conversation with our reporter on Thursday.

He said the report of the brutal murder of the yet-to-be-identified Fulani woman left him deeply disturbed, and he has instructed security agencies to track down the perpetrators.

“I actually visited the scene in the company of the security operatives where I later addressed members of the community at the village head’s palace and charged them to cooperate with the security agents by sharing useful information that would aid them in fishing out those behind such an act,” he said.

The council chairman, who sympathized with the victim’s family, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of residents within the council.

A police source at the Gadabuke division, who requested anonymity, also verified the incident, noting that investigations are already underway.
