Nigerian troops have rescued 15 kidnapped victims after stopping a terrorist attack in Marge community, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The development was disclosed on Sunday by North-West crisis reporter Bakatsine in a post on his X account.

The rescue followed intelligence reports that armed terrorists were operating in Marge, prompting troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to move into the area.

When the soldiers arrived, they exchanged gunfire with the terrorists. The attackers later fled into the surrounding bush after coming under heavy military fire, leaving the kidnapped victims behind.

The military said none of the troops was injured during the operation, and all 15 rescued victims have been safely reunited with their families.

The rescue came less than 24 hours after troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA stopped another kidnapping attempt in Surimi, a border community between Kebbi and Sokoto states, where four abducted people were also rescued during an intelligence-led operation.

The military has continued to carry out intelligence-based operations across the North-West to disrupt terrorist and kidnapping groups and improve security in affected communities.
