President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday commissioned major education, transport, and aviation projects in Borno State, marking a federal endorsement of post-conflict recovery efforts under Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.

The visit focused on rebuilding public services in a state whose education and infrastructure sectors were severely damaged by more than a decade of insurgency.

Tinubu commissioned three mega schools and a fleet of 620 electric vehicles and tricycles provided by the Borno State Government to improve access to education and public transportation.

The schools are Mafoni Day Secondary School, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Government Day Secondary School, and Mafoni Primary School.

The facilities are part of Zulum’s 104 Mega School Initiative aimed at expanding access to quality education and restoring learning environments disrupted by conflict.

Each school includes classrooms, laboratories, libraries, sports facilities, and administrative blocks designed to support teaching and learning.

Speaking at the ceremony, Tinubu said the projects reflect people-centered governance and praised Zulum’s approach to leadership.

“I congratulate the Governor and the people of Borno State for this transformation, because government is about people, and Professor Zulum is doing a very good job of caring for people,” Tinubu said.

The president described the projects as practical examples of how state-level governance can drive development.

Tinubu also commissioned the international terminal of the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, Maiduguri, ahead of planned international flight operations.

The airport upgrade is expected to strengthen Borno’s connectivity, trade prospects, and economic recovery.

Responding, Zulum thanked the federal government for its support and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to rebuilding infrastructure, strengthening the economy, and investing in human capital.

Federal and state officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders attended the commissioning events.

Tinubu concluded his visit by attending the wedding ceremony of the son of Ali Modu Sheriff, former Borno State governor, at the Maiduguri Central Mosque.
