The Sokoto State chapter of Stand Up for Women Society (SWS) has celebrated its first 100 days in office with a humanitarian outreach to patients at Maryam Abacha Women and Children Hospital, Sokoto.

During the event, the organisation donated detergents to women receiving treatment for Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF), in line with its mission to improve the lives of women, children, and vulnerable groups.

Representing the national president of SWS, the association’s national financial secretary, Sufiyatu Olumesi, reaffirmed that SWS is a non-political, non-religious, and non-tribal organisation dedicated to advancing the rights and welfare of women and children. She commended the leadership style of the Sokoto State chairperson, describing it as steadfast and development-focused.

Chairperson of the Sokoto State chapter, Aisha Aliyu Tambuwal, called on the Sokoto State government to support the formal inauguration of the chapter, noting that SWS is ready to complement government efforts in promoting development across the state.

Other notable figures at the ceremony included the association’s North-West zonal coordinator, Hadiza Alhaji; a member of the board of trustees, Hadiza Aliyu Tori; and a representative of persons with disabilities, Hadiza Bello. They all delivered goodwill messages in support of the group’s mission.

Following the ceremony, the SWS delegation visited the VVF ward at Maryam Abacha Women and Children Hospital, where they interacted with patients and presented the donated items. Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Maryam Mani expressed gratitude for the gesture.
