Former Kaduna Central senator Shehu Sani has highlighted the power of art to strengthen unity and advance national development while sponsoring a painting competition on Wednesday at the Kaduna Museum.

The contest brought together young artists, students and cultural enthusiasts who presented works centered on peace, unity, diversity and social harmony.

Sani said the initiative was designed to “encourage creativity among young Nigerians” and offer them a platform to share their perspectives.

“Art has the power to heal, unify and inspire,” he said, emphasizing that creative expression can help reduce social tension, foster tolerance and boost youth opportunities.

He urged government institutions, NGOs and the private sector to invest more in the creative industries to enhance job creation, tourism and youth empowerment.

Curators and coordinators at the museum applauded Sani’s consistent support for cultural development, noting that the event will motivate more young people to pursue artistic careers.

Winners received certificates, cash prizes and art materials, while selected artworks will be displayed in future exhibitions promoting peace and unity.
