Popular political musician Dauda Kahutu, widely known as Rarara, has alleged that former Kano State Governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, played a role in some of the economic and administrative difficulties currently confronting Nigeria.

Rarara made the claim during an interview with an online platform, SL Update, where he argued that many of the challenges affecting the country today originated from policies and decisions implemented in the past.

According to him, one of the key concerns was the retention of local government funds by higher levels of government instead of granting local councils complete authority over their finances for grassroots development initiatives.

“Local government funds are the lifeline of the people. They are what bring government services closer to ordinary citizens at the grassroots level. When those funds are withheld or controlled elsewhere, essential services meant for the people are affected,” he said.

The musician maintained that the nation’s present struggles began when the practice was introduced, adding that its consequences continue to impact different sectors of the economy and governance.

He asserted that the absence of financial independence for local governments has hindered development efforts, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, water supply, and rural infrastructure.

Rarara also stated that for Nigeria to attain lasting development and economic progress, local governments must be given full powers to administer their affairs and manage their resources without external interference.

His comments come amid continuing discussions on local government autonomy and increasing calls for reforms that would guarantee local councils direct access to their statutory allocations and greater independence in governance.

According to media reports, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his representatives had not issued any response to the allegations.
