The Yobe State Police Command has begun an investigation into the death of a woman found near the fence of the Federal University Gashua in Bade Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson SP Dungus Abdulkarim said, “The incident was reported on October 17, 2025, by a resident named Yusuf Sarkin Baka from Sabon Daula Ward.”
He explained that Yusuf “informed the police that a lifeless female body was discovered early in the morning near the university fence.”
A police team from Gashua Division “immediately arrived at the scene for an on-the-spot investigation.”
“The victim was identified as 45-year-old Falmata Abubakar, a resident of Abasha, Sarkin Hausawa Ward, Gashua,” the statement said.
“She was found dressed in a black hijab.”
Her body was taken to the Specialist Hospital in Gashua, where “a medical doctor confirmed she was dead.”
After an autopsy, “the remains were released to her family for burial according to Islamic rites.”
Investigators later found that “the deceased had been transported in a vehicle and dumped about two kilometers from her home.”
“This discovery has intensified police efforts to identify and arrest those responsible,” Abdulkarim added.
Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ado assured the public that “the command will conduct a thorough and professional investigation.”
He said, “We will ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.”
