The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Kolawole Omotosho on Friday 31st October 2025, describing it as an assault on Nigeria’s democratic process.

In a statement released by the National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP maintained that the court’s decision does not in any way affect or invalidate its ongoing preparations for the National Convention where new National Officers will be elected to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The party further cited a recent Supreme Court ruling which reaffirmed the supremacy of political parties in managing their internal affairs, adding that all organs, members, and chapters of the PDP should remain steadfast and focused on the convention plans.

While expressing its commitment to the rule of law, PDP disclosed that its legal team has been directed to immediately appeal the judgment. The party reaffirmed its determination to defend and promote Nigeria’s multiparty democracy.
