An associate of Ahmad Isah, popularly known as the “Ordinary President,” has dismissed social media rumours claiming that the renowned human rights advocate has been arrested and imprisoned.

Describing the reports as “false, misleading, and completely unfounded,” the associate, who has worked alongside Isah for over 16 years, clarified that the Brekete Family anchor is alive, well, and currently taking a much-needed rest after nearly two decades of relentless service to the Nigerian people.

“For 16 years, Ahmad Isah has given his all to fight for the oppressed, the marginalized, and the voiceless. Except for rare moments of personal grief or after traumatic incidents, he has hardly ever taken a break,” the associate as quoted by Zagazola Makama.

Ahmad Isah is resting, not missing

The associate explained that Isah’s temporary absence from public life is a personal decision aimed at rest and recovery, not the result of any legal troubles.

“At 4 a.m., while many are still asleep, Ahmad Isah would already be on his feet, strategizing ways to secure justice for victims. From early morning broadcasts to late-night interventions, his dedication has been nothing short of extraordinary. Like every committed fighter, he, too, needs time to heal and recharge,” the associate added.

The public was urged to disregard the circulating rumours and instead offer prayers and support to the Ordinary President during his period of rest.

“Ahmad Isah is not missing. He is not broken. He is not defeated. He is only resting, so that when he returns, he will be even stronger and more resolute in his fight against injustice,” the statement emphasized.

Call for responsible reporting

The associate also called on media organizations and the public to be responsible by verifying information before spreading it, particularly about individuals who have devoted their lives to public service.

Ahmad Isah is widely respected for his human rights advocacy through Brekete Family, a popular radio and television programme that serves as a voice for ordinary Nigerians seeking justice.
