The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced an extension of the loan application deadline for the 2025/2026 academic session, shifting it from January 31, 2026, to February 27, 2026.
The extension, according to a press statement issued by Mrs Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND on Thursday, was intended to allow prospective applicants more time to complete and submit their applications, ensuring that no eligible student is left out because of time limitations.
The statement quoted the Managing Director of NELFUND, Mr Akintunde Sawyerr, as saying that the extension showed the Fund’s commitment to inclusion and accessibility.
“We understand that some applicants may require additional time to complete their submissions, and this decision ensures that every eligible Nigerian student has a fair opportunity to benefit from the Fund,” he said.
NELFUND urged all prospective applicants who are yet to apply or finalise their loan applications to make use of the extended deadline and ensure that all required information is submitted on or before February 27, 2026.
