The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a major reduction in the cost of the 2026 Hajj, following the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make the pilgrimage more affordable for Nigerian Muslims.
In the revised schedule released by the commission, which operates under the Presidency, the new fares reflect a significant decrease of up to ₦792,943.83, depending on the pilgrims’ departure zones.
According to the update, pilgrims from the Southern Zone will enjoy the largest reduction, with the new fare now set at ₦7,991,141.76, down from ₦8,784,085.59.
Those departing from the Northern Zone will pay ₦7,696,769.76, representing a reduction of ₦760,915.83 from the earlier cost.
Similarly, the Borno and Adamawa Zone, which traditionally records the lowest fares nationwide, now has a new rate of ₦7,579,020.96, marking a decrease of ₦748,104.63.
NAHCON also announced December 5 as the final deadline for payment of the reduced fare.
