Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Thursday said joint security operatives are intensifying efforts to restore lasting peace to Oke-Ode and other communities recently attacked by suspected bandits in the state.

He made the remarks in Oke-Ode town, Ifelodun Local Government Area, during a condolence visit to the town and to families who lost relatives in the attacks by kidnappers.

The Governor was joined by the Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, the State Director of DSS, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Dr. Umar Mohammed, Senior Special Assistant on Security, Muyideen Aliyu, and the Chairman of Ifelodun, Hon. Femi Yusuf.

He offered prayers for the victims, praised the security agencies for their work, and assured residents that peace would be restored soon. The Governor also extended condolences and solidarity to affected communities across Ifelodun, Irepodun, Isin, Ekiti, Edu, and Patigi.

“We have come to commiserate with the community over the attacks. It is to also commend the security forces, forest guards, and vigilante for repelling them and restoring peace back to the community,” he said.

“It’s been quite challenging. Everything is being put in place to mitigate its effects, and make sure we end such occurrences.”

The Governor also received reports from security officials and stakeholders from Oke-Ode and nearby Igbaja, including the National President of Oke-Ode Development Association, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Ajala, Elder Oyin Zubair, and the youth leader.

Earlier, he had issued a statement expressing condolences to the affected communities, stressing that more must be done to safeguard lives and property.
