The Kano State Police Command has recorded two significant successes in its ongoing crackdown on criminal activities, recovering suspected stolen items valued at several millions of naira and apprehending suspects connected to a violent robbery incident.
In a statement released on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command said detectives attached to the Sharada Division recovered 160 solar inverters estimated at ₦59.2 million.
He explained that the inverters were discovered in an unfinished building located at Haye Quarters, Kano, following the arrest of Abdullahi Isah, 43, who was allegedly attempting to sell the items at unusually cheap prices.
The Command appealed to residents who may have lost similar inverters to report to the Sharada Division or contact the Divisional Police Officer for proper identification and possible recovery.
In another operation, the police disclosed that operatives of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) arrested three men over the armed robbery attack on Jajire Filling Station in Gaya LGA, during which six fuel dispensing machines valued at ₦10.2 million were stolen.
The suspects, Bishir Abubakar, 60; Shamsu Abdullahi, 30; and Alhaji Shamsu Lawan, 56, reportedly admitted purchasing the stolen machines from a Kaduna-based accomplice who remains on the run for ₦5.2 million.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the officers for their prompt response and professionalism, emphasizing that the Command remains determined to dismantle criminal networks operating across the state.
He also cautioned members of the public against buying goods offered for sale at suspiciously low prices.
