The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected thugs identified as Mohammed Isma’il, popularly known as Linga, and Sani Abdulsalam, also called Guchi.

The duo were caught in connection with viral social media videos showing them brandishing dangerous weapons and inciting violence.

This is contained in a statement signed by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Police Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command.

According to the police, the suspects, both from Dala Quarters, had been mobilizing youths in their community while posting videos on TikTok and Facebook.

Their online activities, which featured the display of weapons, reportedly created fear and raised concerns about possible unrest in the area.

During the operation that led to their arrest, officers recovered a sword and two clubs from the suspects.

Commissioner orders investigation, warns against thuggery online

The Commissioner of Police in Kano, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, directed the operation and has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter.

He said’

“Anyone found posting videos of themselves brandishing weapons or engaging in acts of thuggery will be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

The police boss stressed that the command will not hesitate to clamp down on individuals who use social media to promote violence or threaten peace.

Police call on parents, guardians to guide youths

The command further appealed to parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against participating in thuggery or criminal activities.

It assured residents of Kano State that it remains committed to protecting lives and property while safeguarding public peace.

“The Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the State and will not tolerate any behavior that threatens the peace and stability of our communities,” the statement added.

Public urged to report suspicious activities

The police commended members of the public for providing credible information that aided the arrests and encouraged continued cooperation.
