The Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KASA) has kicked off an enforcement operation aimed at removing non-compliant billboards and advertisement structures across selected local government areas of the state.
According to a statement signed by the agency’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Munzali Muhd Hausawa, the exercise is designed to sanitize public spaces and restore compliance with approved regulations.
During the operation along Zaria Road, the Director General of the agency, Comrade Kabiru Saidu Dakata, explained that billboard and gantry owners found violating signage rules have been served removal notices.
Boosting compliance and safety
Comrade Dakata stressed that the exercise is not only about regulation but also about keeping the city safe and attractive.
“The objective is to ensure full compliance with signage guidelines in order to maintain the aesthetics and safety of public spaces,” he said.
He further assured that the agency will continue to engage stakeholders to create awareness while simultaneously enforcing the law.
Also speaking, the Director of Operations, Yushau Balarabe Umar, pointed out that the agency’s recent capacity boost will improve effectiveness in enforcement.
Governor’s support strengthens enforcement
Umar noted that the donation of two Hilux vehicles by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has enhanced the agency’s logistics.
“The vehicles will be used by field officers to patrol and identify illegal advertisement structures across the state,” he stated.
He warned that billboard and signage owners who ignore the agency’s directives may face legal consequences.
