Suspended Rano LGA Chair, Muhammad Naziru Ya'u

The Kano State House of Assembly has suspended Rano Local Government Chairman, Naziru Ya’u, from office for three months.

His suspension was made public on August 13, 2025.

The decision followed complaints from residents of Rano LGA, who petitioned the Assembly over the chairman’s conduct.

Majority Leader Lawan Husaini Dala, who also chairs the Assembly’s Complaint Committee, explained that the action was taken after reviewing the allegations.

He said residents accused Ya’u of impunity and a lack of transparency in his administration.

Dala further revealed that the chairman was also accused of failing to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the area.

LGA Chair denies allegations

Kano State Assembly said it invited nine of 10 councillors of Rano LGA, who testified against the Chairman.

They accused him of selling government fertiliser palliatives in the area.

However, Dala said the LGA Chairman denied all allegations against him.

The lawmaker, Lawan Hussaini Dala said investigations on the allegations would be thorough during the Chairman’s suspension.
