The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has refuted a viral claim alleging that a naval officer who recently clashed with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike survived an assassination attempt.

The rumour surfaced on Sunday night, suggesting the officer was pursued by unidentified men riding in two unmarked Hilux vans without number plates and dressed entirely in black.

According to the circulating report, the vehicles allegedly tailing the officer followed him from the NIPCO Filling Station along the Line Expressway down to Gado Nasco Way.

However, in a swift reaction, the FCT Police, through a statement by its spokesperson Josephine Adeh, said no such event happened anywhere in Abuja.

“The Command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory.

“The public is advised to disregard this false information and desist from spreading unverified claims capable of causing unnecessary panic.”

“For the safety of all residents, the Command urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police Division”, Josephine said.
