The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State has held a special prayer session for the safe release of 177 worshippers abducted from churches in Kurmin Wali community.

The prayer meeting, held at Tawaliu Baptist Church in Maraban Kajuru, brought together Christian leaders from across Kaduna State and parts of northern Nigeria.

Chairman of CAN in the 19 Northern States and the FCT, Rev. Joseph Hayab, urged churches to strengthen security around places of worship, warning that “unrestricted access to worship centres exposes congregations to serious risks.”

“We have been praying and watching instead of watching and praying. The church must wake up,” Hayab said.

Also speaking, CAN Chairman in Kajuru LGA, Rev. Enoch Kaura, said the prayers were to seek divine intervention for the victims’ safe return and wisdom for security agencies.

He described the security situation in Kajuru as “alarming” and called for intensified action to end recurring attacks.
The abducted worshippers were taken during Sunday services by armed men, while several others reportedly escaped.
