Several members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State have dumped the ruling party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The defectors attributed their decision to growing dissatisfaction with the APC’s leadership and its handling of governance.
They were officially received by Senator Abubakar Gada, who described the mass movement as part of a broader coalition aimed at rescuing both the state and the nation from poor governance.
Growing discontent with APC leadership
Speaking during the reception, Senator Gada explained that frustration with the APC’s performance has driven many Nigerians to embrace the ADC in search of meaningful change.
“Our people are resolute and determined to liberate themselves, the state, and the country at large,” he declared.
He stressed that the ADC’s mission is rooted in restoring dignity and ensuring a better future for citizens.
Security, poverty and hunger in focus
Senator Gada also raised concern over worsening insecurity in Sokoto’s Eastern Senatorial District.
He noted that bandit attacks have crippled farming activities, fueling unemployment, poverty, and hunger in the region.
“No society can thrive without security. This coalition is committed to restoring peace and stability for all Nigerians, regardless of their location,” he assured.
When asked about the ADC’s prospects of unseating the APC in future elections, Senator Gada was cautious.
According to him, victory ultimately rests in the hands of God, not political machinery.
“It is God who gives power, not the machinery of the state,” he concluded.
