An angry crowd in Dansadau town, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, attacked a state lawmaker on Wednesday.
The lawmaker, Kabiru Mikailu, represents Maru South in the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
The residents said he ignored them after being elected. They claimed he did not visit the community, attend Sallah celebrations, or reach out to families affected by repeated bandit attacks.
The incident happened when the lawmaker came to the town with Governor Dauda Lawal for an official visit. Security officers later stepped in to calm the situation and stop further violence.
Governor visits town for projects
Governor Dauda Lawal was in Dansadau to begin the reconstruction of the more than 90-kilometre Dansadau–Gusau road. He also ordered repairs and upgrades to the General Hospital and promised solar-powered electricity for the town.
The governor assured residents that his government is working to improve security, rebuild key infrastructure, and support communities affected by insecurity across Zamfara State.
During the visit, the Emir of Dansadau, Alhaji Garba Muhammad, conferred on Governor Lawal the traditional title of Garkuwan Dansadau.
