Kaduna State Government says the state has recorded zero violent conflict since 2023, attributing the achievement to deliberate peace-building strategies adopted by his administration.
Speaking at the 2025 Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Week in Kaduna, the governor, represented by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, said the feat was driven by the Kaduna Peace Model.
“Peace is the foundation of development. By prioritising prevention, dialogue and community ownership, Kaduna has created an enabling environment for growth,” Sani said.
He explained that the Conflict Early Warning and Early Response System (CEWERS) has helped detect and resolve tensions before escalation, leading to the reopening of schools, markets, health facilities and farmlands.
According to him, over 300,000 out-of-school children have returned to classrooms, tuition fees in state-owned tertiary institutions were reduced by 40 per cent, while investments in agriculture and skills development have boosted livelihoods.
Sani described the media as a key partner in peacebuilding and urged journalists to embrace conflict-sensitive reporting.
Earlier, NUJ Kaduna Chairman, AbdulGafar Alabelewe, said the union honoured the governor with a Recognition Award for Exemplary Leadership in peacebuilding, inclusive governance and press freedom.
