Reconstruction Committee at the Shehu's Palace in Bama

The Chairman of the Bama Reconstruction and Resettlement Committee, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe, has embarked on a two-day assessment tour of communities in Bama Local Government Area.

Engr. Wakilbe, who is also the Borno State Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, led the delegation on Monday to Bama, Mayanti, Darul Jamal, and Banki.

The visit aimed to assess reconstruction projects, review security operations, and support government efforts to resettle displaced persons.

The tour began with a courtesy visit to the Shehu of Bama, His Royal Highness Dr. Umar Kyari Umar El-Kanemi.

The committee also met with the Brigade Commander of the 21 Armoured Brigade, Brig. Gen. T. A. Ayoola, to brief them on the purpose of the mission.

In Mayanti, the team inspected the construction of 500 new houses.

They also reviewed clearance operations designed to improve security and prepare the area for returning residents.

The delegation continued to Darul Jamal, where they assessed the rehabilitation of 109 houses destroyed during the insurgent attack on September 5, 2025.

They examined ongoing fortification efforts, observed farming activities, and inspected the town’s water supply system.

The team also evaluated healthcare services to ensure essential facilities are restored.

Engr. Wakilbe assured the community of the government’s commitment to strengthening security and reopening schools in Darul Jamal.

The committee proceeded to Banki, where they delivered logistics support from the Borno State Government to the Commanding Officer of the 152 Task Force Battalion, Lt. Col. H. J. Okon.

They inspected the ongoing construction of 450 rural housing units and visited the newly established Vocational Training Centre at Taradal Banki.

The team also assessed the Banki Cattle Market, which plays a crucial role in the local economy.

They inspected educational facilities, including the Tijjani Banki Memorial Government Day Secondary School and the Banki Central Primary and Junior Day Secondary School.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring essential services, rebuilding infrastructure, and supporting communities as they work toward stability and development.
