The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Strategic Command has recorded a major breakthrough with the arrest of 29-year-old Adamu Yusuf.
He was apprehended on August 23, 2025, by operatives attached to the Kiru Area Command.
This was in a statement signed by Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics and Public Relations Officer for the Kano Strategic Command.
Yusuf was intercepted along the Zaria-Kano Road, Kwanar Dangora axis, while returning from Lagos with a large consignment of Tramadol.
According to NDLEA, the suspect concealed 7,000 capsules of the drug, weighing 4.1 kilograms, inside a 20-liter oil jerrycan.
NDLEA operatives hailed for expertise
Despite the attempt at concealment, the operatives successfully uncovered the hidden drugs, a move that reflects their professionalism and vigilance.
The agency noted that the successful arrest is proof of its determination to disrupt the supply chain of illicit substances and safeguard communities.
Commander of the Kano Strategic Command, ACGN A.I. Ahmad, praised the officers for their diligence and commitment to duty.
Support from NDLEA leadership
Commander Ahmad also expressed appreciation to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), for his guidance and support.
He stressed that the backing from the agency’s leadership has been crucial in achieving several milestones in the war against drug trafficking.
The statement added that the Kano Command remains resolute in eliminating hard drugs from the state.
He acknowledged the role of the public in its operations, urging citizens to continue supporting NDLEA in providing useful information.
It reassured residents that the agency would intensify its fight until communities are safe from the threats of drug abuse and trafficking.
