Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda will proceed on a three-week medical leave starting Monday, August 18, 2025, to attend to health matters, the state government has announced.
This is according to a statement by Bala Salisu Zango, the state Commissioner for Information and Culture released on Thursday.
The governor expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their understanding and prayers.
He emphasized his commitment to returning to serve the people of the state with renewed energy and dedication.
The statement said, “I want to thank everyone for their kind words and ongoing support,” Governor Radda said. “Taking the necessary steps to prioritize my health is essential so I can continue to serve effectively and make the best decisions for our state. I look forward to returning to my duties as soon as I finish my medical check up.
“To ensure seamless governance and continued leadership, the state Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal, HCIB (Sarkin Fulanin Jobe) has been designated to assume the responsibilities of the governor during his absence in an acting capacity.
“Governor Radda expressed confidence in the deputy Governor’s ability to lead and manage affairs with the same dedication and commitment.
“We wish to assure the public that all ongoing initiatives, programs and projects will continue to progress without interruption.”
The statement states that Governor Radda has remained a strong proponent of his “Building Your Future Agenda,” playing a key role in driving policies and projects that align with the state’s development priorities.
The state government expressed optimism about his recovery, stating that it looks forward to his return in good health, ready to resume his duties and continue serving the people with renewed commitment, the statement further added.
