Former Kano State Governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has criticised top members of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He described their actions as a betrayal of the trust reposed in them by the electorate and the values of the Kwankwasiyya ideology.

Speaking at his Miller Road residence in Kano to supporters from Takai Local Government Area who remained with the NNPP, Kwankwaso expressed disappointment over the decision of Senator Abdulrahman Kawu and other federal lawmakers from Kano State to dump the party.

“Kano South taught Nigeria a political lesson,” he said.

“The people rejected inducements like spaghetti, N200, and wrappers, and stood firmly with the NNPP. But some of our elected members have now chosen to abandon the people and chase personal interests.”

‘No greater disloyalty’ — Kwankwaso warns

Kwankwaso described defection from the NNPP as the “highest form of political betrayal,” saying those who benefited from the movement’s platform but turned their backs on it have committed the worst political sin.

“There is no greater disloyalty than leaving the party that gave you a chance to lead,” he declared.

Despite the defections, Kwankwaso praised those who stayed loyal to the Kwankwasiyya Movement, calling them the true defenders of its principles.

He expressed confidence that those who left the party would eventually regret their decision, adding that the movement remains strong and focused on its mission.
